Today we were going off to Hells Gate. I had no idea what was in store but I knew that there were going to be animals and it would be hot. Heat bring it on.
Loads of drive by shooting which has become a given by now. We arrived as you can see from the picture we were at Hells Gate. Paid up and drove through the entrance gates and were greeted by Zebra's and Impala.
The rest of the journey to Hells Gate Gorge which was mostly dine on foot hiding behind the Land Rover I saw more Zebra, Impala and also Warthogs, Buffalos, Girafes and Vervet Monkeys.
When we eventually arrived at the gorge we were greeted by some Masai guides who were to take us around the gorge and look after us. As I was to find out!!!!!!
The route down the gorge was difficult and steep but in comparison with what was to come it was the easy bit. As we went along the Masai guide was explaining various things including various films that have been filmed there. One of which was Tomb Raider 2. So yes I have walked in the foot prints of Angelina Jolie!!!! Also he was telling me that Lion King has a feature of Hells Gate Gorge in it The rock that the lion looks over the savannah. I couldn't quite get my head around this because it was of course a Disney animated film, but hey it was a good story and I took a shot of the rock!!
The animals are so beautiful its hard to take a bad shot. So after arriving at the gate to leave I found that I had completely filled up two 16GB cards (approx 1200 shots) and was needing some more space as all I had was two 4GB cards. Out came the MBP and I started to transfer one cards worth onto it while driving to a lodge where we were going to stop for beer and food.
As we were sitting , eating and drinking in the grounds of the lodge watching Water Buck amble across the lawns and monkeys playing in the trees and on adjacent empty tables the sun was starting to set. We could tell that it was going to be a beautiful red and orange African sunset which was high on my hit list for the trip. We decided to to go to another place which would be ideal to view the sunset about ¾ hour away. The sun was due to set in 40 minutes. You do the maths!!! Downed our beers and ran to the Land Rover. The race was on and Kiriu was of course up for the challenge. 30 Mad crazy minutes later we arrived at the other lodge in time to set up and watch the beautiful sunset.
